Smart Welding And Additive Manufacturing Lab

About Us
Smart Welding and Additive Manufacturing (SWAAM) Laboratory at Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT T), led by Dr. Degala Venkata Kiran, works majorly on the advanced arc welding processes and metal additive manufacturing. The research group focuses on understanding the welding arc physics to effectively control the process to improve joint quality. The group also focuses on designing and developing energy-efficient welding torches and arc-based additive manufacturing systems. Another major area of our group's work is the application of numerical and machine learning models in developing the digital twins for welding and additive manufacturing processes to control the deposition quality and process optimization.
